Kiln to Cart Help

What is the hand reference, and how do I set it up well?

The hand reference is a one-time photo of your hand that the AI uses as a size ruler whenever a capture includes you holding the piece. Set it up in Settings → Hand Reference: lay your hand flat on the table, fingers spread, with a ruler, measuring tape, or inch-grid cutting mat right under or beside your fingers, and photograph it from directly above so the markings are readable. After that, the “with hand” capture angle makes size estimates noticeably more accurate.

Which iPhones can measure with LiDAR?

LiDAR measurement needs an iPhone Pro model (12 Pro or newer). On other phones the app offers AI dimension estimates from your photos instead — placing a measurement grid under the piece gives the AI the most accurate scale.

How do I connect (or disconnect) Etsy?

Settings → Marketplaces → add Etsy, which signs you in on Etsy's own site — we never see your Etsy password. Disconnecting in the same place removes the connection; listings already posted stay in your Etsy shop.

Can I capture pieces without an internet connection?

Yes — new pieces captured offline are saved on your phone and marked pending, then upload automatically the next time the app is open with a connection. AI features (descriptions, estimates) need a connection, so a pending piece gets those after it syncs.

Can I change photos, dimensions, or the listing after saving?

Everything stays editable. Open the piece from your inventory and tap Edit — photos, measurements, description, price, and status (draft, listed, sold, shipped) can all be changed at any time.

How are AI usage and costs tracked?

Every AI call and stored photo is metered to your account, and Settings shows a running usage summary. During the beta there is nothing to pay; the meter exists so usage is never a surprise later.
